PARADE NOTICE  -  THE PARADE COMMITTEE REGRETS TO ANNOUNCE THAT DUE TO THE SEVERE WEATHER FORECAST FOR TOMORROW THE PARADE HAS BEEN CANCELLED, NO RAINDATEPLEASE PUT ON YOUR CALENDAR OUR PARADE FOR NEXT YEAR SATURDAY MARCH 12, 2011.

 

The A.O.H. Division 16, and Ladies A.O.H. Division 16 held the 19th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday March 14, 2009 at 1 p.m. on Main St. in Mount Kisco, N.Y. The celebration is Mount Kisco's traditional St. Patrick's Day Parade. A solemn mass was held prior to the parade at St. Francis of Assisi Church  in Mount Kisco, NY.

The parade started on Main St. and Moore Avenue and end at South Moger Ave. and Green St.in Mount Kisco, NY. The parade Grand Marshal was Thomas Singleton a long time resident of Mount Kisco. Tom is a well-known and well-respected attorney who shares a law office with his son Whitney Singleton in Mount Kisco under the name of Singleton and Singleton. Tom and his wife Patricia, a clinical psychologist, have a daughter, Dr. Lauren Singleton Winston, who is also a clinical psychologist. Tom has spent most of his life living in Mount Kisco and Bedford Hills.He is an active member of Frank PL Fox Division 16 A.O.H., past commander of Moses Taylor Jr. Post 136, American Legion, Mount Kisco Lions Club, and many other civic and Irish American groups.

The Hibernian of the Year is Dana John Hickey. Dana is past president of AOH division 16, current Financial Secretary and a member since 2002. Dana is an active member of Sisqua Council Knights of Columbus and volunteers with the St. Francis of Assisi homeless shelter and the Holy Trinity Homeless Shelter located at West 82nd Street in New York City.

The Friend of the Hibernians is Michael Whalen. Michael's grandmother came from County Carlow, Ireland. Mike is the son of the late William Whalen, Jr. and Elinor Whalen who were the former owners of Whalen Movers, a long-term business in Mount Kisco. His father Bill was a past president of the AOH Division 16 and former Grand Marshal of our annual Saint Patrick's Day Parade. Mike is a former Mount Kisco resident who served the community in a number of ways. Mike was a member of the Rotary Club, Cub Scouts, Fox Lane Sports Club and served several years on the Mount Kisco Planning Board. Mike and his family have been generous supporters of our annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.

The parade featured over sixty marching groups such as military reenactment groups, marching bands, antique cars, antique NYC Police cars, Irish bagpipe bands and dancers, and many community organizations.

The A.O.H. Division 16 is a non-profit organization formed on September 13, 1891 and iscomprised of practicing Roman Catholic men and women of Irish descent living in the northernWestchester County area.

The parade is more than an ethnic celebration; it is also an event, which is a source of pride andenjoyment for all area residents. Several thousand people line the streets to enjoy the parademarch. The result is a benefit to area businesses and a positive image for our northernWestchester community.
